YOUTH BASKETBALL

Youth Basketball is an exciting sport combining team play and individual skills. YMCA youth basketball promises no tryouts, no getting cut and no benchwarmers! Every child plays at least half of every game while making friends and learning new techniques. The YMCA utilizes volunteer coaches to focus on participation and fun!

Passing, shooting and defensive skills are strengthen and the importance of physical fitness and conditioning are stressed. While basic skills of the game are developed through practices and games, every child learns sportsmanship and values necessary to be successful in life. Every game begins with a youth sports prayer and ends with a handshake.

TRAVEL BASKETBALL (AAU & YBOA) TRYOUTS

As part of our focus of youth development and healthy living, the YMCA of Greater Montgomery is committed to providing players, through travel basketball (AAU and YBOA), a positive playing experience. Through leadership at YMCA, volunteer coaches serve as positive role models, and parents/families providing positive, continuous support; travel basketball is a platform for players to improve their game within a highly competitive environment on their grade level that is a step above regular season Y basketball leagues.

Our competitive travel league is a tryout program where the highest skilled players travel and compete in local and out-of-state tournaments with travel to compete regionally. Coaches work with volunteers to run a high-level program focusing on fundamental development of the players.
