YFL - YMCA FOOTBALL LEAGUE

The YMCA of Greater Montgomery youth football league is a instructional and recreational tackle football league played by elementary students ages 5 through 12 (Kindergarten - 6th Grade). Our youth football program conditioning camps and coach’s trainings with weekly games and practices focused around safety, proper game fundamentals and individual participation. Through strong coaching and structured guidelines, we help every participant grow using football to create new friendships that help strengthen our community.

2019 YFL - FALL TACKLE FOOTBALL

A recreational tackle football league played by elementary students ages 5-12. Our program is designed for youngsters who want to learn how to play the sport, brush up on the rules, practice tactics and skills, improve their game and most importantly- HAVE FUN! Our focus is on football education, participation, and sportsmanship. We stress and promote the 4 Core Values of the YMCA: Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility.  Age for playing is determined by the child’s age as of August 1st, 2019 and/or the grade they are entering in Fall of 2019 and can't be entering 7th grade.

USA Football Coaches Clinic Training ($15.00 Fee Mandatory for all YMCA Football coaches) Saturday, August 3rd at the Montgomery Academy - Bear Fieldhouse

Pre-Season Clinics – Conditioning begins August 12th

Teams may begin practice August 19th

Tuesday, Sept. 3rd-Southeast and East Y players 

Thursday, Sept. 5th-Cleveland Avenue and Greenville Y players

Friday, Sept. 6th-Bell Road and Wetumpka Y players

In order to insure the safety of the participants, the YMCA has weight limits in each league for players who can play in the backfield and carry the ball. Restricted weights for participants are as follows:

CUBS (K, 1st and 2nd Grade) Over 90 lbs.

TERMITES (3rd and 4th Grade) Over 110 lbs.

PEE WEE (5th and 6th Grade) Over 130 lbs.

2019 FALL DEVELOPMENTAL FLAG FOOTBALL

Our YFL - Developmental Flag Football program is designed to introduce young athletes (age 3-8) to the basics of their respective sports through games and drills. The greatest thing about our YFL - Flag Football program is it's designed to be fun! Kids learn to love the game by improving their skills, making new friends and competing with their teammates. Parents are encouraged to be a part of their child’s experience. Get your child in the game!
